About Us

Welcome to Sweekly News. We’ll try to keep this as simple as possible. As you may or may not know, school is canceled; EVERYWHERE. Sweekly News was created by me (Sebastian Morse), and Jack Urness. We are avid viewers on NextDoor Neighbors, and we thought this would be a great idea to inform our awesome neighbors of what’s happening right now. Now that schools are closed, we decided to start this news program to inform our neighbors of the brand new news happening in our area.

Although high schoolers are the ones writing these articles, anyone can read them. Some stories may be specific, or maybe just a breakdown of smaller things happening. These are odd times, and we want to make sure you’re informed of what’s going on.

Are you a high school interested in writing. Please contact us to have your article featured on Sweekly. We would love your help.

About the Authors

Sebastian Morse:

Mission: Hey, I’m Sebastian. I’m the founder of SWeekly news. I created SWeekly with the thoughts of it being a one man show, with me writing all the articles every month or so. I was fortunate enough to expand SWeekly news to more than 5 fellow students of all different backgrounds. I didn’t start SWeekly to put a few extra dollars in my pocket. Instead, I was fortunate enough to donate donations from fellow students to help combat Oregon wildfires (and soon to be more).
About: I’m a born and raised fellow Oregonian. Or as I would consider myself, a city country boy. In my free time, you’ll see me skiing the powder on Mt. Hood, or walking with my chickens (you heard that correct).

Carmen Blank: Hello! I’m Carmen, and I am a student-athlete at Lincoln High School. I compete for the Multnomah Athletic Club swim team, and for Lincoln during the high school season. I spend a lot of my time training, hanging out with my dog, and playing board games with my family. I enjoy writing these articles, and hope you do reading them!

Eva Novy-Hildesley: Hi! I’m Eva, a sophomore at Lincoln High School, and a committed student athlete. I run track and cross country, I play basketball, and I also do aerial dance. I am an extroverted, adventurous person, and of course a proud Portlander. I am passionate about understanding the world outside of my comfort zone, and I love to immerse myself in new cultures and climates. I have always been a people person, and I look forward to participating in SWeekly, and working towards forming a closer sense of community in our neighborhood.

Kate Hadden: Hey! My name is Kate, and I am a tenth grader at Lincoln High School. I am a competitive rock climber at the MAC, and I also ski and run track for Lincoln! I enjoy playing sports, reading, listening to music and hanging out with friends. For me, SWeekly is a place where I can write about the things I’m passionate about for the community that I love.

Erik Jacobson: Hi! I’m Erik Jacobson, a friendly face in the neighborhood. I went to Ainsworth, West Sylvan, and I am currently attending Lincoln and pursuing the Spanish Immersion route. I love the outdoors, surfing, playing tennis, and helping my community if you see me around the neighborhood don’t hesitate to say hi!

Jack Urness: I am currently a freshman at Lincoln High School and attended Ainsworth as my elementary school. I am a rock climber on the MAC climbing team. In my free time, I like to read,  skateboard, and play with my cats. Being born and raised here in the southwest hills, I really love the neighborhood and like to support the people in it. That is one of the reasons why I decided to join SWeekly, so I could help people stay up to date on the latest news in their neighborhood.

Aidan Shuler: My name’s Aidan Shuler. I moved to Portland when I was 3 and have lived in the council crest area ever since. I swim a lot, for both Lincoln and for the Mac. I also play water polo when it’s in season and I love Portland in all seasons.
